First Team Project

This game is what me and my team made in the first year of our Game Development course at the University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam. This project is made by 5 developers but we all have different skills that are useful for creating a game. With our game we got 2nd place in the overall best game competition with over 10 teaams participating.

My Responsibilities

This was my first project where I was creating a game in a team. I took the role of project management, game art and design upon myself. This was the first project where I was trying to get a feel for project management and leading others, this went pretty well for my first team and with feedback from my teammates I really improved in this skill. We did not really have a real artist on the team as our course is exclusively for developers but I still had an interest in creating game art so I made most of the pixel art for this game. Next to this I also worked together with one of my teammates to program the boss battle.

Results and Process

The team was very satisfied with the game we managed to make. The game features 10 levels including a boss fight. THe gameplay has been thoroughly tested and the difficulty scales up along the levels nicely. The boss fight doesn't require the most difficult strategy but you still have to pay attention to the attack patterns it has. For the first team project we made this was a great start to the studie.
